Spectacle Subsidy Scheme

The WA Spectacle Subsidy Scheme assists with the purchase of a complete pair of prescribed spectacles or contact lenses and as of 1 July 2019 the subsidy maximum is $54.34.

This assistance is available once every 2 years, subject to eligibility criteria.​

Who is eligible?

The assistance is available to Western Australians who:

  • receive an Age, Disability or Service pension
  • hold a WA Seniors Card.

The scheme is also available to dependent children under 16 years of age shown on eligible concession cards.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold card holders are not eligible.

How do you apply?

Spectacle Subsidy claim forms are available from all Western Australian optometrists and optical dispensers.

You should ask for the form when you purchase your spectacles. The optometrist/dispenser needs to sign the form.
