Some of the State’s finest nurses and midwives have been named as finalists in the 2024 Western Australia Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards (WANMEA).
This year, 38 nurses and midwives and four nursing and midwifery teams have been announced as finalists across 14 categories in the industry’s annual awards.
WA Health’s Acting Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Jenni Ng said the finalists had been selected from an extraordinary field of nominees across the State.
“Judging this year was challenging and it’s heartening to see the positive impact these finalists have had on people’s lives through their compassion, care and humility,” she said.
Ms Ng said the finalists had been recognised for their significant influences on and achievements in WA’s health care system.
“These nurses and midwives are demonstrating exceptional professionalism, leadership and collaboration as they work tirelessly to improve health outcomes for WA communities,” she said.
This year marks the 20th year of the nursing and midwifery awards which provide an opportunity for Western Australians to publicly acknowledge the State’s largest health workforce.
More than 43,000 nurses and midwives work in public, private, and non-government health sectors across the State.
The prestigious title of 2024 WA Nurse or Midwife of the Year, this year’s Lifetime Achievement Honour recipient and category winners will be announced at the WANMEA Gala Ball on 11 May.
