Algal bloom warning for Mullaloo Beach

25 March 2024

Algal bloom at Mullaloo Beach

Beach goers to Mullaloo Beach should avoid contact with any murky or discoloured water, as it may be an algal bloom.

There have been several reports of skin irritation, ear infections, burning throat and gastro-intestinal illness by people who have come into contact with the discoloured water.

You should avoid activities such as swimming, diving, kayaking, jet-skiing, and fishing in areas where water is discoloured or scum is visible, as it could contain algae.

If you come into contact with discoloured water you should immediately rinse it off with clean water and seek medical attention if you become unwell.
