Belmont Youth Services Centre

The City of Belmont Youth Centre provides support for young people (aged 12 to 18) and their family members who live within, or go to school in the City of Belmont.

The Centre offers a variety of opportunities that encourage young people and their family members to access support from experienced professionals. These opportunities include: case management support, youth events, a Youth Advisory Committee, school holiday activities, after school activities and a drop in style games room.

‘Drop in’ at the Belmont Youth Centre is a fantastic place to shoot pool, slide the puck on the air hockey table, show off your table tennis skills, challenge your friends to a game of foosball, play the latest games on Playstation2 or XBox 360, watch movies on the big screen, grab something to eat, or just chat and hang out.

Drop in is open every afternoon after school, 3.00pm – 6.00pm, for young people aged 14 to 18, and is staffed by youth workers.

City of Mandurah – Youth Development provides a number of activities, programs, events and services.

Fairbridge is a major youth charity based at a heritage listed Fairbridge Village in Pinjarra Western Australia, 1 hour south from Perth city and 20 minutes east of Mandurah. Fairbridge provides a range of services for young people and has partnership agreements with dozens of other youth organisations across Australia.

Fairbridge works with children with a disability, young people at risk, young people with drug problems, the unemployed, young people in our justice system, young people who are struggling with life, Aboriginal young people and refugees, through to gifted young people. Fairbridge helps young people reach their full potential and bring about long term positive sustainable change in their lives.

Fairbridge uses a holistic approach to working with young people and their families. Services provided range from mentoring, leadership development, life skills, accommodation, education, accredited training opportunities for young people within the Peel Region, employment opportunities and adventure camps.

Fairbridge can also provide accommodation, catering, program development support and activities to individuals and groups who wish to use our unique facilities.

Monthly drop in sessions, in collaboration with Youthlink, aimed specifically at Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people (under 26) who are same sex attracted, and sex and/or gender diverse.

Third Thursday of each month, 5.00pm-8.00pm

IYMP provides the opportunity for Indigenous youth (16-24) to relocate to Perth (from outside the Perth metro area) or Broome (from outside of Broome) to participate in post-secondary education/training (including traineeships, apprenticeships, Tafe/private RTO or university). As an IYMP participant you have access to subsidised, supervised accommodation plus ongoing mentoring and support.

Indigo Junction Youth Service (formerly Snow Bennett Youth Service) is committed to delivering the best possible service toward the prevention of homelessness, with support and assistance being offered in a non-judgemental, respectful and transparent manner.

Provides a combination of life skills workshops and basketball competitions held in eight-week blocks on Saturday nights at Swan Park Leisure Centre. Running in Term 2 and Term 4 in 2013 and beyond.

Life-skills workshops are compulsory to play and cover topics such as getting a job, leadership, health and hygiene, nutrition, goal setting and other topics by respected mentors.

Open to boys and girls aged 12 – 18 in Midland and surrounding suburbs.

A meal and transport home are provided. No cost to players. Registrations are essential at Midnight Basketball (external site) (choose Locations/Midland).

Provides career guidance, support and encouragement for young Aboriginal people to stay at school, get back into school or training, and to prepare for employment.

  • Registered Training Organisation providing a range of training options including workplace and classroom based delivery options.
  • Offers specialised Language Literacy and Numeracy Programs for young people aged 15 to 21 combining a qualification such as Construction, Retail and Hairdressing with Literacy and Numeracy support.
  • 5 Community Learning Centres: Esperance, Kalgoorlie, Fremantle, Rockingham and Medina. Offers alternative education programs for young people not attending school. Options include driver training, GATE, general construction, horticulture, business and retail.
  • Providers of the Federal Government Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program in Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah, Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Roebourne, Kalgoorlie, Esperance and Warburton.
  • Group Training Organisation specialising in Aboriginal School Based Traineeships and the Year 10 Aboriginal Leadership program and full time Aboriginal traineeships and apprenticeships.
  • Indigenous Employment Program panel member.
  • SMYL Community College is a CARE school for years 10 – 12, offering alternative educational delivery for young people whose needs are not being met by mainstream schooling. Based in Rockingham.

YouthLink is a statewide mental health program managed through the North Metropolitan Area Mental health Service. It is a government funded organisation.

What YouthLink provides: specialist mental health counselling, consultation, training and community development.

Eligibility: aged 13 to 24.

What YouthLink does: depression, anger, abuse or neglect, drug and alcohol use, trauma, self harm and suicide, relationships and homelessness.

Referrals can be made via phone by the person in need or others concerned.

Eligibility: aged 13 to 24; marginalised, homeless, disadvantaged.
