Urological cancer

Over 2600 people are diagnosed with urological cancer in Western Australia each year.

Urological cancer includes cancer of the:

• prostate
• kidney
• testicle
• penis
• bladder
• urinary tract.

Following diagnosis, a patient may undergo further staging examinations and receive multiple treatments including:

• surgery
• radiation therapy
• chemotherapy.

The course of treatment will involve seeing specialists in a variety of settings over varying periods of time.

Helping you along your cancer journey

The Urology Cancer Nurse Coordination Service is a free statewide service available to persons with a diagnosis of urological cancer in WA.

Specialist urology cancer nurses are available to:

• provide and explain information on your diagnosis and treatment
• liaise and link with other services within the treating hospital and the wider community
• coordinate your care and appointments
• act as a central point of contact.

This service is available Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.
