Be COVID-prepared when you travel

30 September 2022

With people planning to see family and friends over the spring school holidays, it is important to be prepared and follow current COVID-19 public health and social measures to help keep everyone safe.

If you plan to travel, think about what you will do if you test positive for COVID-19 or become a close contact while you are away.

Remember to pack:

  • rapid antigen tests (RATs)
  • face masks
  • hand sanitiser
  • tissues
  • thermometer
  • electrolytes
  • proof of vaccination

If you develop COVID-like symptoms or become a close contact while you are away, get tested at once – RATs are a safe, convenient, quick choice, particularly if you are in regional or remote WA.

WA households are eligible for another 20 free nasal RATs. Each household in WA can collect free rapid antigen tests from metropolitan drive-through collection points, COVID-19 vaccination clinics, the Perth Royal Showgrounds, and regional COVID-19 testing clinics.

Save important phone numbers to your mobile phone before you leave:

  • 13 COVID (13 268 43)
  • your GP or medical clinic
  • HealthDirect (1800 022 222) if you do not have a GP in WA
  • phone numbers of family, neighbours, or other support networks.
