Meet Natalie, mother of quads and past patient at King Edward Memorial Hospital

12 May 2023

Natalie was 7 weeks pregnant and had a 1-year-old at the time, when finding out the news that there will be 4 more babies on the way.

“No words will ever be enough to explain the shock and utter disbelief we felt on that day.” Natalie says.

Experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, Natalie says that having all 4 babies born healthy with no major health issues and getting to watch them play together over the years has been a major blessing.

Natalie extends her thanks to Kind Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) staff for making her feel comfortable and confident during her pregnancy and birth.

Being surrounded by a supportive community, Natalie explains that “the only way we have got through the past 3 years and are still smiling is with the help of our amazing village of weekly helpers. We are so blessed to have some very kind people who selflessly give our family their time every single week.”

However, it hasn’t always been easy over the last 3 years.

“Raising 5 Children (aged 5 and under) whilst trying to maintain a house and everything that comes with being a parent is insane.” Natalie explains.

“I only have 1 set of arms and it’s heart breaking when 2 or more children need you at the same time!”.

As tips from one mum to another, Natalie recommends asking for help when needed, accepting help when it’s offered and swears by doing something for yourself every day.

“Go for a walk. Sit by yourself in the sun and enjoy a coffee for 5mins. ANYTHING! It will make you a happier person which in turn means a happier Mumma!”.
